Amazon.com Review:
Parents of preemies and infants at increased risk of SIDS lose a lot of sleep wondering if their babies are still breathing. Even parents of healthy babies experience this kind of anxiety. With its movement sensor pad, sound transmitter, sound lights, and movement detecting "ticking" sound, The Angelcare Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor can take away virtually all this anxiety.

Three Functions, Infinite Peace of Mind
The Angelcare Movement Sensor has three modes of use, enabling parents to use the sensor/sound monitor well into toddlerhood and beyond, if desired. With the Sound & Movement function, you can hear your baby’s sounds, see sound lights, and hear a "tic" sound with every movement the baby makes. If no movement is detected, the "tic" will stop and after 20 seconds the alarm will sound. In the Tic Off mode you will not hear the ticking sound with every movement. However, you will still hear the baby’s sounds and see sound lights, and your baby’s movement is still being detected. An alarm will still sound if absolutely no movement is detected for 20 seconds. And finally, with Sound Only, the movement sensor is disabled, but you will still be able to hear your baby’s sounds and see sound lights. In this mode, the Angelcare functions as a regular sound monitor. For many parents, just being able to hear the sighs and squeaks of the newest member of the family is reassurance enough. For those who need more input, for whatever reason, the additional sensory features of the Angelcare can be lifesaving.

How the Angelcare Movement Sensor Works
A sensor pad is placed under the center of baby’s crib mattress on a flat, hard surface. The sensor pad cord passes underneath the mattress entirely, exiting the crib in the corner. It is then plugged into the jack of the nursery unit transmitter. The nursery unit can be plugged into an electrical outlet or it can operate with four AAA batteries. The same goes for the parents’ unit receivers (two parents’ units included). Turn the parents’ units on by selecting either channel A or B. Make sure they’re set to the same channel as the nursery unit. Set the nursery unit to the desired mode (Sound & Movement, Tic Off, or Sound Only). You may leave one parents’ unit in your bedroom and carry the other with you as you move about the house and yard. Now, depending on the function you’ve selected, you’ll be able to keep track of your baby’s every sound and movement.

Sound Lights
Indicator lights on an LED sound bar (on the parents’ unit) allow you to "see" your baby’s sounds if background noises prevent you from hearing baby. As baby’s sounds get louder, more lights illuminate.

Optional "Tic" Feature
When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement, it will continuously tick with every movement your baby makes. If no movement is detected by the sensor pad beneath baby’s mattress, the ticking will stop.

Movement Indicator Light
The movement indicator light is located only on the nursery unit. When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement or Tic Off, the movement indicator light will flash green with baby’s every movement. The flashing green light will let you know that movement is being detected, which will allow you to check on a sleeping baby in the dark.

False Alarms
False alarms are possible with the Angelcare Movement Sensor, especially if instructions have not been followed to a "t". Make sure to turn off the nursery unit after you’ve taken baby out of the crib. Also, once baby starts being more mobile, she may roll right off the sensor pad area of the mattress. A troubleshooting guide in the instruction manual gives other solutions to false alarms.

What’s in the Box
Angelcare Movement Sensor includes movement sensor pad, nursery sound monitor, two parents’ units, instruction manual, and three AC adapters. Twelve AAA batteries are required (not included).--Emilie Coulter

First good nights sleep in months???? Priceless!
I bought my monitor 4 months ago and got my first good nights sleep since my son arrived. Suddenly instead of waking up every hour or so and doing a breathing check, I was able to relax and get some actual resting sleep. What a blessing. It works like a dream and I have not had any difficulty with interference. I love it and would recommend for everyone. When I first got it he was sleeping in the bassinet part of a pack n play and I did need to cut a board to fit. I think that actually made the bassinet more comfortable!

Knows when your baby is breathing.
I had no idea there was a product like this out there. It actually monitors whether or not your child is breathing. If it weren't for this monitor, I would be driving myself nuts checking with my hands (and probably waking up the baby doing so). Thank goodnes for this kind of technology!

*Another reviewer recommended placing a board or flat surface under the unit. This is great advice if you are using a pack and play bassinet with a soft bottom. It really helps to get an accurate signal.

The best
This is the best... as a new mom I am scared with SIDS and this monitor give me piece of mind....
We never had a false alarm and the portable parents units have a great range I can go outside and baby sleeping in the house....

I would recommend it STRONGLY !!!! worst every peny you will spend for your piece of mind at night and during naps.....

Best thing ever bought for my baby
My daughter is almost 14 months old now, and have to say that if I did not have this monitor over the past 14 months, I would have gone crazy. I have a friend, who's son died in his sleep at 5 months old, of SIDS.
I think if he would have had this monitor, it may have saved him.
If i didnt have it, I would have never slept and never left the nursery and would have stood over the baby's bed all night, just to make sure she was alright and alive.
I did get a few false alarms, when she started rolling over, but I would rather be woken up after 8 minutes of well-deserved- just fed the baby-just pumped-just changed a poopy diaper at 3am and an alarm is now going off- sleep, then to know what it feels like to lose a child.
Buy it, its worth it, you wont be sorry!

This monitor is a lifesaver
We purchased this for our son before he was born, he wasn't a premie or at an increased risk for SIDS but I wanted the piece of mind to know he was breathing. Well, at 4 months old, the alarm went off in the middle of the night. We jumped up and ran into his room and picked him up, he wasn't breathing, when we picked him up it startled him and he started to breathe. We later found out after he was tested due to another alarm going off at night that he was having sleep apnea episodes. The thought of what could have happened had we not known he wasn't breathing scares me everyday. There is no price that can be put on the security of knowing if your child stops breathing you will know. I recommend this highly to everyone having a baby and it is the first thing I buy when close friends of mine have a baby.

Now, at 11 months old, my son still uses this monitor. Even though he is a mover now in his crib, we get very few false alarms. I can also attest to the fact that the range on this monitor is awesome and the sound quality is great. Overall there isn't anything bad I can say about this product!
