Very Nice Press
My wife and I are very happy with this press. It is built like a tank except for the weak link which is where the stem mates with the plunger. I actually had to return the first one because this part had stripped threads. Amazon shipped out a replacement overnight and the second one is flawless. The press makes excellent coffee when used in combination with a conical burr grinder. The burr grinder is necessary to get a coarse grind so the grounds will be strained out by the metal screen. Due to the fact that this is solid metal it is a good idea to warm it up before you use it. We just put hot water out of the tap and leave it in there while the coffee water is heating in the microwave. This does the trick and we have had excellent results with this method. I'm glad I didn't get a glass one because I have already clanked it against the sink a couple of times and thought, " If this was glass, I may have just broken it". You have my recommendation to go ahead and but it. Plus, the stainless steel looks great on the counter next to the other appliances.

Nice classy press. Easy to clean, doesn't take up much room on the counter but has enough heft to stay put while you are preparing your beverage.
Excellent product!!!
I bought this after trying French pressing with a cheap wal-mart glass one first cause I wasn't sure about the quality change in the flavor of my coffee. I was convinced after one try. I then gave away my glass one wanting a real nice press. I then researched for presses on amazon. I was torn between the Bodum and this one. I went this way mainly due to the fact that this one was not glass and would mbe much more durable over time. Construction is solid. No handles to break. My only complaint is that is does dribble one single drop down the front just like pouring wine. I'm not even sure that's avoidable though and very minor compared to the outstanding build quality. I highly recommend this press and I'm sure I'll enjoy if for years knowing it won't break in the sink, dishwasher or transporting it.
Best French Press Ever!
My husband loves this French press because it is nearly indestructible. He loves the design and the fact that it is super easy to clean. The capacity of the cups is an exaggeration; 5-6 cups is really more like 3 cups, so buy one size larger than you think you need. We originally purchased the 5-6 cup press but it was too small so we returned it for the Frieling 35 oz press which is PERFECT; we can even use the old wire mesh and rod assembly from our three broken Bodum presses. We are extremely happy with this press and will NEVER go back to the glass version.
Fabulous, well-constructed press
Like many others here, I broke one too many glass carafes and decided to try a stainless French press instead. I looked at the Bodum stainless press, which I thought was quite cute, but it had a little plastic gasket around edge of the plunger. Probably this helps to make the plunger fit better, but I don't like the idea of putting plastic in my coffee everyday. So I bought the Frieling because it didn't have any plastic parts. This coffee press is rock solid. It's made entirely of stainless steel, inside and out. It seems very sturdy and is dishwasher safe. It makes great coffee and does keep the coffee hotter than the glass press (no, you couldn't leave it in there for hours and expect it to stay hot, but that isn't the point of a French press anyway). I think it's going to be worth the investment. I hope not to have to buy a new French press for a very long time.
