Screen failed, return was a nightmare, new screen flickering
While the conevnient size of the hand held unit lured me in, the product never worked properly and is not worth the huge price tag. First the battery life is horrible, in less than one hour and it would go dead. You need to keep the display constantly plugged in to an outlet which effectively negates the benefit of the small portable size. The image quality is marginal at best and seemed to get worse over time. After a few months the screen went blank and would show no image at all. The unit does have a warranty but the company tries to be as difficult as possible in replacing defective products. Essentially they make you pay for a new unit and claim they will refund the money when you return the defective unit. Guess what happened?????? I returned the defective unit with USPS delivery confirmation yet they refuse to refund my money. I now have to file a complaint with my credit card to try to recover my money. To add insult to injury the image on the replacement monitor that they sent is now flickering on and off after a few weeks so I can only imagine it will fail as well. While the thought of a small unit like this seems like a good idea, my experience with two defective hand held units would indicate that this product is either poorly engineered or cheaply constructed. I would avoid this monitor, it is way too expensive for a product that will break leaving you fighting with a company that does not want to honor the warranty.

Poor Video Quality
My wife and I decided to return this product due to its poor video quality and because the pan capabilities were only available when the camera was zoomed in (the camera does not physically move).
Instead we bought the Summer BestView Handheld Monitor and are very happy with it.

Can't be without it
I love this moniter because we live in an old house w/ creaky floors and I always risked waking my baby when I went to check on him. I carry it on my hip all the time when he is sleeping during the day. The only things I don't like about it are minor, such as how long it takes for the picture to come up and then you have to look at the Safety First logo each time b4 you can see your baby. I also think it should fit more securely into the clip since it can fall off pretty easily when bumped. Some tape would fix it fast. I am worried that it is messing w/ our wireless network since I just now read some reviews that stated the same. We have had some problems w/ our network since we got the moniter and didn't realize what could be going on. I hope not because I don't want to be without it!!!!

Works OK - but not worth the price
Purchased this after much review and comparison. Talked to others I know and box store employees. Amazon had the best price so I went for it.
Had no issue setting up the monitor or connecting to the handset. The color feature was very nice, but like other reviewers here have noted, unless the room is extremely bright, the feed defaults to B&W. That wasn't a big problem for my wife and I. The night vision works well.
Sound feature - the first night we put my daughter in the bed rather than the crib (the whole reason for buying it), I had it on setting one (soft sounds turn it on). When we woke up the next morning - my daughter was UNDER the bed sleeping. We did not hear a thing and my wife is 9 months pregnant and due to that, not a sound sleeper. Since then we have had the sound ON all the time. The slight static when the sound is on is not as loud as our old Graco monitor, but it is there.
I have three problems with it - two are minor and one is major.
First, the camera does not stand well on its own if you tilt the lens. I understand it is meant to be mounted but I would have liked the base part to have a little more weight.
Second, sometimes the camera does not focus when you turn on the viewer - all you see is static. I have gotten around this by zooming in and then zooming out. That normally resets the picture. The first time this happened I thought it was broken and played with it for about 25 minutes - standing in the same room - and could not get it to focus. Since then the issue is intermittent.
Finally (the deal breaker): this thing KILLS your wireless network. If you are running 2.4GHz wireless G forget it. With the monitor in the next room away from the computer I am only pulling down about 1Mb. If I bring the monitor downstairs, I get between 11 and 18Mb. Forget file sharing.
I need to decide (and soon) if I want to return it. I may downgrade to a 900Mhz model.
Edit - June 9, 2009: The Focus problem seems to come much less than before. I also changed the channel on my wireless router from 11 (the default) to 6 and I no longer experience any wireless interference, even when the handheld is right next to the laptop. It was a simple fix that I would recommend anyone try before returning the monitor.

No interference
Not sure what other monitors are like, but from what I heard other ppl sometimes see babies of their neighbours and such. This never happened.
Also, very clear color picture (day) good quality night vision image and amplified sound make this unit worth the cost.
I keep it in no time off setting at night.
