Product Description:
Zojirushi Fresh Brew Coffee Maker EC-BD15 features a 1.5 liter stainless steel vacuum insulated carafe with excellent keep-warm performance for fresh tasting coffee. It also features an electric timer clock module to set the coffee to complete brewing by the desired time.
Amazon.com Review:
Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket.

To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served.

To clean the brewer unit, use a solution of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the accompanying booklet. The unit is not immersible. The exterior can be wiped with a damp soft rag; do not use abrasives or scouring pads. The filter reservoir is removable; clean with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. The coffee brewer measures 15 by 12 by 9 inches (includes carafe handle when unit is completely assembled), and it uses #3 cone-shaped disposable paper filters. The Fresh Brew comes with a detailed instruction booklet. Zojirushi guarantees its products with a one-year limited warranty. --Garland Withers

Fantastic Coffee Maker
Just got this for Xmas, it is a great coffee maker. No more replacing glass carafes, I manage to break one a year cleaning them. The coffee stays warm for hourse in the steel carafe and the burnt taste that comes with keeping coffee on a burner is no longer an issue. Makes a great tasting cup of coffee, sorry Starbucks and Peets.

Cheap! Cheap! Cheap!!
I am SO disappointed with this coffee maker!! I was really looking forward to getting this so when it showed up at 6:30pm I said I was making a pot! Taking it out of the box I found a cheap plastic machine, but didn't want to jump to any conclusions until the coffee was made. Well, I couldn't open the carafe to get the coffee out and it took me about 4-5 mins to drain the contents . I am really shocked at all the rave reviews that were listed for this maker. My FREE Gevalia maker makes this look like a Wal-Mart special! I'm going to be shaking my head on this one for some time.

Great Design Good value
I have thus far been very impressed. This machine replaces my Delonghi thermal carafe, which I disliked due to several design flaws that made it hard to pour and caused the basket to overflow many times. I think this was due to the valve at the bottom of the basket being too restrictive. The Zoji has a much larger valve allowing the basket to drain more freely. It still brews slowly by percolating into the basket at a steady even rate. The removable "shower head" wets the grounds evenly and is easy to remove/clean. The Zoji is a very good design and can brew with the lid up allowing you to watch it work. I put a thermostat in the basket and it read ~195° throughout the brew cycle. The coffee came out at the perfect temp. and it was strong and bold, just as I had measured it to be. The carafe is a good design, keeps the coffee hot (I just poured a cup 3 hours after brewing, and it is hot, not warm). The carafe does not drip down the side like my Delonghi used to. My only dislikes are that you have to tip the carafe almost horizontal before it begins pouring, and it pours very slowly. This is somewhat annoying when filling a thermos. If you remove the lid completely, it seems to work alright (Not a major issue). Also the unit is mostly plastic and feels a tad flimsy compared to the full stainless Delonghi. On the other hand, it cost about 70 dollars less than the Delonghi and works much better. Hopefully it holds up for the long haul, because so far it has exceeded my expectations.

We love it!
This coffee maker is the best . . . it keeps the coffee warm for hours and makes really good coffee. We like everything about it.

My Experience
Made one mug of coffee, which was fine and the next time I used it water leaked profusely from the measuring gauge. Thus I cannot recommend this machine.
